Gorham Porcelain Doll Collection – Rosamond 1981 Musical

 

Rosamond was one of the first dolls made by Gorham in 1981 by artist Susan Aiken.   She is approximately 18" tall with porcelain head and hands.  She is wearing detailed cream colored lace dress with pink frills and a pink ribbon, bloomers underneath, and a pink bonnet, white socks and brown shoes.  The decorative stand that Rosamond has her right arm/hand resting upon is NOT included in this sale.

 

She has a gold bracelet on her hand with the letter "G" on it which is the signature of Gorham.  She has the Gorham stamp on the back of her neck.  She has a large wind up key that is used to play the music "Close to You" which plays without any flaws. She is in very good condition.  She has no visible signs of cracks, crazing or other visible signs of damages.  The details of this doll is remarkable and she would make a wonderful addition to any collection. She also comes in her original box.

 

She has been in storage in her original box for a majority of her life. She was displayed in a glass fronted cabinet for approximately two years in the mid 1980's.

 

·         Rosamond is a Gorham Collection; is made of the finest porcelain and is hand painted.

·         Rosamond's arms, legs, face and neck area are all made of porcelain.

·         Rosamond's body is made of cloth, not porcelain.

·         She wears a Golden bracelet with the letter "G" (Gorham) as a charm.

·         She is a very collectible doll because the Gorham Company no longer makes dolls. 

·         Gorham stopped making dolls in 1994 and this doll is minted in 1981.

·         Rosamond has only had one owner and was in a smoke free air conditioned home since 1981 ~ 30 years!!!

·         She comes with her original Brown box (Box shows a lot of wear and is only in fair condition at best). Check photos for condition.

·         Includes  a sturdy doll stand with wooden dark stained round base.
