Gypsy sorcery and fortune telling: ILLUSTRATED
BY NUMEROUS INCANTATIONS, SPECIMENS OF MEDICAL MAGIC, ANECDOTES AND TALES
Charles Godfrey Leland - 1891 - 271 pages
The "Gypsies", who call themselves Rom or
Romany (the term Gypsy is now in fact considered a slander by many), are
a nomadic culture which originated in India during the Middle Ages. Over
the centuries they have become widely dispersed and have a very rich
and long tradition of magic and shamanism.
This book includes spells, incantations and
talismans that are used within Rom culture, as well as the more practical
magic they use in their interaction with non-Gypsies or
Gorgios.
Included are some generalized methods of
fortune-telling which any prospective psychic will find useful in their work;
as well as the details of the 'Great Secret'.
A very interesting read from both a history
of the Rom and the magic aspect of the culture.

Etruscan Roman Remains in Popular
Tradition Charles Godfrey Leland - 1892 - 385 pages
This volume is a classic study of the folklore
of the Tuscan region of Italy. The primary focus of this work is the practice
of Stregheria, or traditional Italian witchcraft.
Basically a study of what is now termed 'family
tradition' or practical magic as practiced in Italy.
This volume covers the details of divining
by oil, fire and molten lead as well as how to bring back the dead, coerce
nature spirits into performing ones bidding. The book includes the
full text of numerous spells and songs mostly in the Tuscan dialect of
Italian.
The book of Hallowe'en Ruth
Edna Kelley - 1919 - 195 pages
This book is intended to give the reader an
account of the origin and history of Hallowe'en, how it absorbed some customs
belonging to other days in the year,--such as May Day, Midsummer, and Christmas.
The context is illustrated by selections from ancient and modern poetry and
prose, related to Hallowe'en ideas.
Aradia: or, The gospel of the witches
Charles Godfrey Leland - 1899 - 133 pages
A classic works of neo-Paganism. Claims to
be an actual sacred text of traditional witchcraft, in particular that of
the Tuscan region of Italy.
While the authenticity of Aradia
has been called into question it has had a profound impact on the emergence
of neo-Paganism, and is required reading for anyone studying the
subject.
