This item is sold as a lot of TWO bare root rhizomes, with new growth and significant root growth.
Costus scaber, also referred to as Costus spicatus, with common names of Indian Head and French Kiss Ginger enjoys full to part sun, is very easy to grow and can reach 2 metres within its first growing season. It is an evergreen ginger, with beautiful green spiralling leaves that making it an attractive foliage plants, even without the flowers.
As shown here, this ginger can make a terrific display of green foliage with very nice flowerheads. The bright red 'flowers' stand out nicely against the green foliage. The flowering bract is a short, bright red cone, with orange flowers emerging one at a time. The flowering bract will last up to one month and makes a nice cut flower in a vase with water.
Truly a must for any ginger garden!
Your ginger will arrive as a very hardy rhizome with significant root growth. The plant stem will be cut back for safety in transport. Soon after planting, new growth should soon emerge.
