Heliconia psittacorum 'Andromeda'~Colour~Semi-Sun~Shade

***This item is sold as a lot of two well developed shooting bare rooted rhizomes ***     The heliconia psittacorum 'Andromeda' is a hardy plant and prolific bloomer, growing to about 1 metre tall. It does best in  partial shade but will tolerate sun. Bracts are light red with a frosty waxy coating, becoming orange. The true flowers are bright orange with a dark green tip. Vase life is about 2 weeks in fresh water and about 2 months on the stem. A great addition for the garden or home as this variety provides much colour and contrast.     Notice here, they tend to spread abit. This makes for a lovely display of flowerheads, delicately dispersed with other shade loving plants.     And... they make for a great flower speciman, long lasting on the stem and as cut flowers, lasting days in a vase of water. A great compliment to the 'Golden Torch' also on offer on this site.     All orders are processed on Monday after payment is received. Your plant rhizome will be removed from our planting beds and prepared for shipment as a fresh bare rooted rhizome. The roots will be washed and wrapped in moist paper and protected for shipment.
