This is in absolutely NEAR MINT condition!
This has some very interesting details to it.
I'm not an expert on R.L.S. or the history of this novel, or even books, for that matter, so if these things are common, please forgive me.

The third image shows the opaque page that you'll find in many old books. On the page that it follows, there is a black and white image of "The St Gaudens Memorial Tablet" .
The opaque page has "Inscription" and a quoted "Give us grace and strength to forbear......" prayer. I included a picture of that in image 4. It also has the title of the 'Saint Gaudens Memorial Tablet' in red ink so that it is seen below the black and white image. That memorial to Stevenson, designed by American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is in Edinburgh Scotland.

The Dedication Page has:
"To S. L. O.
An American Gentleman,
In accordance with whose classical taste
The following narrative has been designed,
it is now, in return for numerous delightful hours
and with the kindest wishes
Dedicated
by his affectionate friend,
The Author"

Researching RLS, the only possible connection I could find to "S.L.O." was Samuel Osborne, the husband of RLS's future wife, who was an American.

ALSO: image #6 shows the Dedication page and following page were never separated at the bottom and are still actually one sheet of paper. The conclusion could be that this book has never been opened and read. It certainly looks brand new!

The second of these two pages has a poem of two stanzas with 8 lines each. The title of the poem is " To The Hesitating Purchaser"

This is a SUPERB copy of a Classic adventure.
