Ancient Roman bronze Gladiators ring with a large depiction of Sol Invictus (the Roman sun god) on the shield shaped Bezel, for protection in the arena. T
he diamond shaped image surrounding Sol Invictus, represents the arena.
Just outside of the arena, there are a series of lines surrounding the arena which represent palm leaves. Palm leaves and olive branches were symbols commonly used to represent brotherhood between Gladiators and Soldiers.
