Antique Cast Iron Chimney Cover Plate European 1800's
This type of decorative cover plate was usually only found in castles and large wealthy villas, in the 1800's era mostly in Germany and Spain.
Most castles and wealthy villas were destroyed during WWll.
This antique is an original (not a replica)and was brought over from germany.
Aparently it was made in Logrono, Spain.
There is no date on the plate, but it dates back to the 1800's Victorian Style
It has a smaller framed type word collumn at the top above the figure,
wording is
FUNDICION DE
SALUSTIANO MARROOAN
LOGRONO
Aparently used as a chimney cover plat, or fireplace insert.
The features details are still in pretty good visible condition,
Age has taken its toll, there is a crack fom the bottom almost centered and about 9" up, (it looks almost as an attempt was made to fix it).
There are rust signs on the front
the entire backside has rust.
Size is about
24" tall x 18.75" wide x .5" thick
weight about 50 lb
Please read all description details and view photos carefully, and ask questions before bidding or buying.
