JOHN VAN KOERT DREXEL PROFILE 5 -PIECE MID CENTURY BEDROOM SET - SACRIFICE
Some pieces are now listed individually on Ebay. I prefer to sell ithe 5 pieces intact at this rock bottom price.
This is a rare find, a complete mid-century bedroom set by Drexel. "Profile" furniture collection was designed in the "Danish Modern" style by John Van Koert, and was produced from 1955 to 1961. Van Koert started out as a jewelry designer for Harry Winston after WWII and later went into furniture design. He is also known for designing for Towle. Drexel is known as one of the premiere American furniture manufacturers and started as Drexel Furniture in 1903 in Morganton, NC.
This set was made between 1959-1961 and all pieces are marked on the back with their mfg. date/style. There is a standard double bed, 2 side tables (25" tall x 18" wide x 16" deep), a very cool secretary/chest of drawers (48" tall x 34" wide x 17" deep) and a wonderful dresser (32" tall x 60" wide x 21" deep). The secretary is complete with pull out, hard plastic shelving and storage drawers, they appear almost brand new! All pieces came from their original owner and have not been touched. There is normal wear on them, a stain or two on top of one side table and the dresser, a nick in one surface on the dresser, a chip off one leg of the secretary, some fading on the headboard (all visible as best as I could show in the photos). I will leave it to the next owner to restore them at will. Winning bidder must make all arrangements for shipping to their destination and pay for all packing and insurance.
