1/2" thick solid phenolic with cherry wood grain colored Formica material on both sides.
The buy it now price is for one sheet.
Note: On these particular sheets the wood grain is running in the short direction. It runs in the opposite direction of what you see in the pictures.
About this material:
Solid phenolic is a composite material made by applying heat and
pressure to layers of kraft paper saturated with phenolic resin. The heat and pressure causes a chemical reaction that transforms the materials into a high-density thermosetting industrial plastic. The material is very dense with a phenolic core and colored formica surface on both sides.
Physical Properties
- Very low moisture absorption
- Stable under changes in humidity and temperature changes.
- Scratch and cut resistant.
- Low friction Formica like surface on both sides
- High density
- Resistant to marking or graffiti
Cutting, Machining, and Fastening
- Can be cut with woodworking tools using standard carbide tooth saw blades.
- Machines very well with router cutters leaving a smooth finish with not tear out or chipping.
- Spiral carbide router bits work best.
- Can be drilled and tapped with standard tooling.
- Can be glued with standard two part epoxy.
- Can use regular woodworking screws in pre drilled holes. Self tapping screws also work well.
Typical Uses
- Signs and store fixtures
- Excellent material for woodworking fixtures where density and stability are critical.
- Router tables, zero clearance table saw inserts, drill press table, dovetail templates, router templates, router plates, table saw fences, etc.
- Counter and bench top work surface
- CNC machining fixtures
- Laboratory furniture
- Sign making
- Furniture
Note that this material is sold as remnants and drops from my industrial process. Some sheets can have up to 1/4 of warp over 48". When cut into smaller sizes the warp is not noticeable.
