Salvinia Natans / Water Butterfly Wings.

Description: A floating fern that grows quickly if these is sufficient nutrition and light. The leaves are about 1/2 inch in diameter. The leaves have small hairs making them water proof. The plant consists of two floating leaves and a third submerged leaf that serves as a root. The leaves have Air cavities in them to help the plant afloat. Light coloured leaves are a sign of a shortage of micro-nutrients, brown leaves a sigh of not enough ventilation and burning of the leaves.
