​Designer Reindeer Sterling Christmas Ornament 1981 Hand & Hammer #0231.  This sterling collectible was one of the first ever produced ny Hand and Hammer Silversmiths in 1981.  It has a custom designer look showing a Galloping Reindeer.  The reindeer is well known in folklore due to Santa Claus's sleigh being pulled by flying reindeer, a popular element of Christmas.  In the Santa Claus tale, Santa Claus's sleigh is pulled by flying reindeer. These were first named in the 1823 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas", where they are called Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder, and Blixem.

The size is about 1-1/4" Tall by 1-1/4" Wide.  This item is in Like New collectible condition.  Comes with Original Box and Card.  It was released for sale by Hand and Hammer Silversmiths in 1981. Made in the USA.
