San Francisco Conservatory 1998 Sterling Silver Christmas Ornament 2275. This sterling collectible was made for Shreve Department Stores and depicts San Francisco's beautiful Conservatory. The elegant structure that graces the entrance to Golden Gate Park was originally ordered by James Lick for his estate in San Jose. Models after the glasshouses of Kew Gardens in London, the components were designed and built in England and New york and then shipped around Cape Horn. The shipment arrived in 1876 at the time of Mr. Lick's death and the whole structure remained crated until a group od citizens bought it and donated to the city of San Francisco for the new Golden gate Park.
This item was originally made for Shreve's Stores in the San Francisco area. The size is about 1-1/2" Tall by 2-1/4" Wide. This item is in Like New collectible condition, and comes with all original packaging. Hand and Hammer ornaments are the perfect size to wear on a chain as a pendant. Hand Made in the USA.
