Shockoe Slip Fountain Sterling Ornament 3119 Hand and Hammer 2002. At the center of Richmond’s lively Shockoe Slip Historic District is a granite-paved piazza adorned with an unusual fountain. The fountain was built in memory of Charles Morgan. “One who loved animals” to refresh the horses that, during the districts commercial past, hauled goods through the area. The fountain now serves the horses of Richmond’s Mounted Police and acts as a landmark amid Shockoe’s renovated 19th century warehouses which now house restaurants and nightclubs and shops.
The Greater Richmond area extends beyond the city limits into nearby counties. Descriptions of Richmond often describe the large area as falling into one of the four primarily geographic references which somewhat mirror the points of a compass: North Side, South side, East End and West End.
This item was crafted for Schwarzchild Jeweler’s of Richmond Virginia. This item is an estate piece and is in perfect condition, and comes with the original box and papers. The size of this ornament is about 2" Tall by 1-1/2" Wide.
We look forward to having you as one of our happy buyers.
