​Reed & Barton Sterling Ornament - X681 baby's 1st Christmas Rocking Horse 2011 - The size of this ornament is about   2-1/2" X 3".  This ornament shows a delightful Rocking Horse that will put a smile on any child's face. This sterling ornament also shows a gifts, a drum, and a teddy bear.  The words Baby's 1st and shown on the Rocking Horse saddle.

This ornament comes with a ribbon that says Christmas 2011.  We have this available in a few different dates, so be sure to check the date you want or let us know at time of checkout.  The back is flat and suitable for engraving, if your date is not available you could have any inscription you would like put on.  It is hallmarked Reed & Barton, Sterling.  This sterling ornament comes with all the original packaging, including, box, pouch, ribbon and certificate.

The rocking horse is a child's toy, usually shaped like a horse and mounted on rockers similar to a rocking chair.  Predecessors of the rocking horse may be seen in the rocking cradle, the tilting seats used during the Middle Ages for jousting practice as well as the wheeled hobby horse. The toy in its current form did not appear before the 17th century,  though some conflicting sources note medieval manuscripts including references to carved rocking horses, presumably of the toy kind.
