This is a D. Salzar 4/4 violin that is approx 150 years old. Salzar violins were typically made by a shop of craftsmen versus a single luthier around 1850 to 1860. This instrument, like many old instruments, has a few cracks. The cracks were professionally repaired by Hoback and I am guessing around 1890. The instrument has been restored with new German Teller bridge, Wittner composite tailpiece with built-in fine tuners and new ebony pegs. The instrument also has new Zyex strings. The instrument is made of fine tonewoods and well-flamed maple. Included is an old case and bow which needs rehairing. Additional pictures are available upon request. This instrument is in a great playing condition, so please, don't buy it just as furniture. Ask if you have any questions.
