Inbetween these is the phrase, in Russian, "The Capture of Koenigsberg". The reverse has the date, in Russian, "10 April 1945", surmounted by a socialist star. It is suspended from a correct WWII-issue Type 2, Variation 2 Steel Koladka. This medal was authorized 760,000 times. This is an original Soviet WWII-manufacture medal. See photograph for condition.
Historical note - Koenigsberg was tabbed for commemoration by the Soviets, as it was the capital of East Prussia, and hense the first enemy "capital" captured by the Russian Army during WWII. Since the incorporation of that area of East Prussia into the Soviet Union (now Russia), and the expulsion of all ethnic Germans, the city was renamed Kaliningrad.
