Soviet Victory Over Japan Medal
This is a Type 1, Variation 3 Soviet Victory Over Japan Medal. The front features a bust of Stalin, facing to the right (which if placed over Moscow on a map, would be looking East, towards Japan), with the motto, in Russian, "For Victory Over Japan". The reverse has the date, in Russian "3 September 1945", surmounted by a socialist star. It is suspended from a correct WWII-style Type 1, Variation 1 Brass Koladka. As expected, this medal, authorized 1,800,000 times, was awarded much less frequently than the Victory Over Germany Medal. This is an original Soviet WWII-style manufacture medal that would have been made and awarded in 1945, as opposed to later re-issue or "makeup" authorized medals that are found on Type 3 Aluminum Koladkas, which were manufactured and awarded in the 1960's, or later. See photograph for condition.
