I have done some searching and this is the information that I found on the Acme whistle. Acme is the world’s largest and most famous producer of whistles. their patented designs are the recognized standard. The Acme whistle  made by J Hudson & Co,  was started in the 1870s in England by Joseph Hudson 1848–1930 and his brother James Hudson 1850–1888. These whistles were used many years ago by the City Police, Royal Air Force, Military, and even in the Olympics.  The Acme Whistle was the whistle used in the Titanic. These whistles can also be used for self protection making a very loud noise when blown. wear it around your neck for added protection. ;-) This was kept in our Family for many, many yrs, hoping someone else can now get enjoyment from it as we have.
