Up for grabs is an authentic BATES PLEATED/RIBBED SEAT in good solid condition with tons of riding time left on it!
No sticker left on this one, but it's easily identifiable as a Bates by the width of the pleats (1 1/2"), the stitching, and the easiest to identify is the signature Bates cover mounting style of trim rings (mounting grommets) and Phillips head screws that sit flush into the rings/grommets (see photo 12 for detail). If you're looking for a Bates and you've done your research you know it's the real deal.
CONDITION:
Please take a careful look at all of the pictures and make your own final determination on the condition, I have taken the time to take as many detailed pictures as possible so buyer knows exactly what they are getting.
-Pleated cover is in overall good condition for its age, not dried out and still has plenty of life left. There are a few rips and tears, please see photos 8 & 9 for the 2 worst spots (there are a few much smaller worn areas on the very back of the seat where).
-Seat pan is in excellent solid shape with only light surface. -Seat foam is in great condition (still rebounds quickly and is nice and soft)
-Rear mounting bolts are solid but are worn (see photo 11). The bolt on the left definitely will require a re-thread.. The bolts look like they are threaded into the pan, so may be able to be removed and replaced.
FITMENT:
I make no guarantees on the original fitment of this one, so please do the research on your end to see if this one will work as is on your application, or if you can make it work for what you want. That being said, my best guess is that it is an old BSA or Triumph (possibly BSA Lightning) seat originally?
The seat mounts by way of the adjustable hook mount in the front and the 2 threaded studs at the rear (see photos 10, 11, 12).
Should be simple to retrofit to almost any custom application since the front mount is adjustable and removeable/replaceable (could swap out for a hinge style or any other custom front mount to fit your application).
