Up for grabs is an authentic BATES LEATHER SEAT WITH THE PLEATED/RIBBED COVER in great condition with tons of riding time left on it.

Still has clearly identifiable remnants of the later model (late 70's) Bates Sticker on the bottom! (See photo 10) 

With too may fakes and too many questionable "authentic" Bates seats out there buy with confidence that you're getting a genuine Bates!

 

CONDITION:

Please take a careful look at all of the pictures and make your own final determination on the condition, I have taken the time to take as many detailed pictures as possible so buyer knows exactly what they are getting. 

-Top cover is the desireable pleated/ribbed leather and is in good condition but has a few noteable and visible repairs which are well done and should give the seat decades more time on the road.  The largest repair is at the front which also has 2 much smaller repairs, with the right reat also have two medium sized repairs (see photos 6&7 for detail).  The rest of the stitching all seems to be solid and intact (See photos 1-5 for overall view of cover & stitching).

-Leather is in overall very good condition.  Leather is still soft and supple with no areas that are dry or cracking.  Does have wear marks, abrasions, and patina typical of well used 40 yr old leather (see photos 1-7).

-All cover mounts are intact and seem solid, all cover screws are the correct Bates domed phillips heads.

-Seat pan is the small size (9" wide) and is in excellent solid shape with only slight surface rusting towards the front mount and around a few of the cover mount screws. 

-Front mounting bolts are both intact with no issues.

-Rear mounts are both intact with no issues. 

-Bates factory applied sticker on the pan is still partially intact and clearly identifiable as the later 70's sticker: white with the black and orange Bates bike logo inside the large "B" (see photo 10).
