This unusual vine has large leaves and pretty white hibiscus-like blooms that look like they're made of crepe paper. After the blooms die, the swan gourds begin growing. They can be harvested right before winter. Some swans will have curved necks and look like they're pecking the ground. Other swans will be upright. After the gourds are dry, you can paint them white with a yellow beak and use them for decoration in the garden for years. This is a beautiful, heavy vine that will need a sturdy fence to grow on or lots of space if you want to allow it to creep along the ground. It spreads quickly and blooms until a freeze. Grow it on a fence for a quick privacy screen. Plant it to hide an eyesore.
When dried, these gourds can be dried and used for craft purposes.
PLEASE NOTE - UNIQUE DRYING METHOD INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE. THESE GOURDS ARE NOT EDIBLE. ANY PHOTOS OF GOURDS THAT HAVE BEEN DRIED AND FINISHED IS ONLY A SAMPLE OF POSSIBILITIES CRAFTED FROM GOURD AFTER DRYING METHOD. ACRYLIC PAINT SUGGESTED FOR DECORATING.
