A knock-out! Very easy to grow and lends authority to any garden. Annual, Deep violet, Blooms Midsummer to early fall. Needs Full Sun, grows 3'-5' tall,1.5'-2' wide. Attracts Butterflies. Fluffy clusters of deep violet flowers are a wonderful flower for ATTRACTING BUTTERFLIES. Cleome can be planted in island beds instead of trees and shrubs where a strong vertical impact is needed. Often used in parks in this manner. This is an excellent background plant. Sowing Instructions: Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 75-80F. Sow in well drained compost, just covering the seed with compost, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Sow Mid January to Mid March. Needs fluctuating temperatures to germinate well. Ensure that the temperature drops sharply at night by sowing as early as possible in the season. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed.
