White Spruce have needles that are 1/3 - 3/4 inch of an inch long, with a green colour to them. The tips of the needles are pointed, but are not sharp. White Spruce can reach a height of 80 to 140 feet, if the growing conditions are right. These trees grow well on stream banks, because of the higher moisture levels found in the soil. Also, tjeu are quiet shade tolerant. It has been noted that White Spruce make excellent Christmas trees, because of their lovely green colouring, short but strong needles and their natural beautiful shape.
