The Fritillaria Imperialis has a bundle of bell-like flowers all around the stem and a whimsical crown of green leaves. The pendulous flowers make a bold statement in the garden. It is by far the most well-known species and also one of the earliest plants to be cultivated. The odor scares away mice, moles and other rodents. After flowering and complete drying of the leaves, the stems should be cut off just above the ground. Mark the location of the plant to avoid any damage when digging or raking. This plant has a 3 week bloom period beginning in late spring. They are deer, rabbit, and squirrel resistant.
Prefers full - partial sun. Grows 32 - 40 inches in height. Zones 4 - 8. Will survive freezing winters. Blooms May - June.
