Native to Himalayas, India, Burma Amorphophallus bulbifer     Of the tribe Areceae, and subfamily  Aroideae, tribe Thomsonieae     aka: VooDoo Lily, Devils Tongue, Lily of the Nile Amorphophallus bulbifer, sometimes called Voodoo Lily Palm, is perhaps the hardiest species, taking winters in zone 6,     according to some sources. Voodoo Lily  Palm is the easiest of all the amorphaphallus     species to grow for novices, and usually stays at a manageable height.  An excellent addition to a tropical shade garden.

	*     The Voodoo Lily is not a palm but an aroid up to six foot tall with a green-blotched stem crowned     with exotic dark green foliage. Huge 5 ft. vase-shaped hooded red infloresce blooms at age 3 to 4 years. Stem and foliage arise after bloom withers in late spring. Lush,     magnificent compound leaves and tall mottled stems make this the perfect specimen for your shady tropical garden; best grown in moist composted soil in shade or part shade. Amorphophallus bulbifer is one of the prettiest of the Voodoo Lilies and the inflorescence     doesn't smell that bad compared to others of the genus. Amorphophallus only blooms when mature and even so it doesn't bloom every year. The unpleasant smell that the flower  omits is only present for a few hours after the flower opens. If the flower is pollinated (normally by flies if the plant is outside) it will take a year for the plant     to mature its seeds. The seed stalk is very pretty with the seeds changing colors from green to red.  During this time the tuber will not produce a leaf. The Voodoo Lily likes shade and sheltered locations. The plant normally starts to go dormant around September.
This is a bulb based plant from the tropics mottled stem topped with a large leaf. Voodoo Lily prefers shade but will tolerate partial sun on any well-drained soil. Inflorescence: Awesome PINK Pitcher style bloom emits a malodorous fragrance. Several fishtail leaflets attached in several mottled branches. The green leaf wilts and re-grows new stems continuously over and over again.
Amorphophallus bulbifer is an intriguing plant even without the bloom, with its large leaves resembling a broad leafed palm tree and a     gray/white leopard-spotted stem. Same bad but short-lived odor as the other plants in this genus. It's awesome pink bloom emits a malodorous fragrance, reminiscent of carrion, since it is pollinated by flies in its native habitat. The stench lasts for one to two     days until pollinated. Don't plant this next to your neighbor's window. Requires a well-drained, woodsy soil, morning sun/afternoon shade.	Umbrella leaf with mottled green stem ariod.     Moist well drained soils, no tolerance to wet or very dry. Do some  research before they arrive or seek experienced help.  Small plants  need protection from many things, wind, sun, dry-out. They  do well just in the garage or living room. They need good  light but not sunlight (full sun will burn small plants).  Small pots dry-out easily. Just sitting in a shallow tray of  water works well. The idea is to keep the plants from  dehydrating.  Be  careful if you decide to re-pot.  Re-potting voids any warranty. Plants are easily damaged  with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill  your plants). Proper care is critical upon arrival. Live Plants are NOT GUARANTEED  to survive under your care.
