Haden Mango is a mid-season variety. Mangoes vary in size, shape, and colors range from green, yellow, red or purple. Mangoes originated in India and Southeast Asia and thus there are basically two types of Mangos, Indian and Indo-Chinese. Indian Mangoes have brightly colored fruit where Indo-Chinese mangoes typically do not. The fruit are fully mature when the red blush begins to lighten in color and the lenticel spots turn from green to yellow. Haden Mango is a medium to large, vigorous tree with a dense spreading canopy. The newly emerging leaves are initially light green, turning a light brown color as they expand and finally, dark green when they are fully mature. Six year old trees can reach heights of 40 feet or taller. Buddhist monks cultivated the fruit and in fact, the mango is considered to be a sacred fruit in the region because it is said that Buddha himself meditated under a mango tree. The mango belongs to the same family as the cashew and the pistachio nut. Haden Mango Mangifera indica	Haden Mango Mangifera indica   The Haden Mango variety originated in Florida, USA. Captain John Haden first selected Haden, a seedling of Mulgoba, in 1902. Haden has become a major commercial variety in many countries around the world. The flesh is yellow to orange and when ripe has the texture of a peach, the flavor also resembles a peach but with a distinct tropical sweetness. The Haden Mango is prized for its golden-yellow skin color and crimson red blush.
	You are bidding on one live bare root (not grafted) seedling with vigorous root systems 8-12 inches tall with 2-4 leaves born and grown in Hawaii.

Mangoes require consistent soil moisture if they are to produce high-qualify fruit so should be watered regularly. When first planting you should water every day or two for a couple of weeks, making sure not to let the root ball dry out, then gradually back off the watering frequency so that after 6 weeks you are watering every two-three days or so in the summer and every week to two weeks in the winter.         Mangoes need rich organic well draining soil. Mix 50 percent of your lightweight potting mix and 50 percent equal parts of cinder, sand and/or perlite. Don't use potting soil as it has too much peat moss.	Mangoes love heat and take full sun, but young trees are sun sensitive for the first couple of weeks. They should be acclimated to the full sun slowly.  Don't use any fertilizers on newly planted mango trees for the first two years. After this time you may give regular applications of nitrogen fertilizer to promote healthy growth flushes and flower production, follow a feeding program similar to citrus. Chelated micronutrients, especially iron are also often necessary. Keep in mind if you use chemical fertilizers, less is more, apply at a rate and strength of 50 percent less than is listed on the package. You may use organic fertilizers such as compost, fish emulsion, liquid seaweed etc. once your tree is established.

If you want one of this and one of that, it gets hard to discount much as each different species requires it's own prep & packing, then at USDA each has to be unwrapped and inspected then repacked. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, a day to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours), then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes the same work with the same type item if you can understand.

LIVE PLANTS ARE PERISHABLE. For this reason uninsurable.         When you order a plant we assume you are prepared to care for it. Please have potting media and a container prepared for your plant before it arrives. Shipping can be stressful on a plant, and any mistakes that you make upon arrival can stress the plant further, which is not good. Proper care is critical upon arrival. It is your responsibility to know how to care for the plant. Not every plant that I order through the mail survives, and I am aware of that and accept the risk when I order. This is the risk that you as the buyer accept, because there is no way to know what kind of conditions it will endure in the trip to your door. My responsibility ends when a live plant is delivered to your door. Live arrival is guaranteed, eternal survival is up to you.  Do NOT email me a week after potting your plant, and make a claim it arrived damaged. From delivery confirmation, you have only 48 hours from delivery confirmation to make any claim.	All claims need to be supported with Photos of the damaged plant(s) as packed/unpacked, the box if damaged, the packing materials and any documents. I am very reasonable and understanding, anything can happen to small plants in transit. The expense to send it to you is most of your payment.
