	The Tahitian Gardenia is famous as the national flower of Tahiti, where  wearing flowers is the local custom. The flowers are a favorite for making  leis, are put singly over the ear, Polynesian style, and are used for  scenting coconut oil. Tiare flower, the Queen of all Tahitian flowers, is a shrub that can grow up to 10 feet high and in milder climates it can make a beautiful hedge with its dark green foliage  and exquisite white flowers. Tiare blooms most profusely during the warmest months with many new flowers  each day. Fill up a small bowl with these flowers, add a little water, and  keep them inside to fill the whole house with the scent of Tahiti. They are  worn tucked behind the ear, and similar to Hawaiian customs, there are  different "meanings" attached to which ear you use and which direction you  place it. Tiare Flowers are also used to make leis with a heavenly scent  which has no rival. Gardenia taitensis thrives on warm temperatures and full sun. The ideal  temperature is above 50° at all times. If you don't have those conditions  naturally where you live, it can do well in a pot indoors, kept moist in  well-drained potting mix. Southern exposure protect from wind. maximize sun  and heat retention in the winter.

Other wear crown heads in  all occasions and add a garland of flowers to give a festive flair to their attire. Last but not least, flowers are a greeting sign, when you arrive in Tahiti Airport, you  will be given the traditional Tiare Tahiti. Then, you will have to know what to do of this flower! Actually a true 'language of flowers' exists in  Polynesia, so here are some advice to avoid any mistake. Worn behind your right ear, it means you are single, available. USDA requires me to clean and prepare every  last piece before we drive them to the Inspection Station on  the other side of the island. It takes my wife and I, 2-3  days to pack items and get ready to ship. The whole next day  we drive around the island and get inspected (2-3 hours),  then drive to the Airport Post Office to drop off. It takes  the same work with the same type item if you can understand.

Do some  research before they arrive or seek experienced help.  Small plants  need protection from many things, wind, sun, dry-out. They  do well just in the garage or living room. They need good  light but not sunlight (full sun will burn small plants).  Small pots dry-out easily. Just sitting in a shallow tray of  water works well. The idea is to keep the plants from  dehydrating.  Be  careful if you decide to re-pot.  Re-potting voids any warranty. Plants are easily damaged  with new/different mix. Use NO fertilizers (this may kill  your plants). Proper care is critical upon arrival. Live Plants are NOT GUARANTEED  to survive under your care. DO NOT expect any live plant to  be GUARANTEED to remain alive. Plants are NOT GUARANTEED TO  SURVIVE after you begin Care!
