This is a VERY NICE hand-signed-in-ballpoint-pen Reach Official American League Baseball (Joe Cronin, A.L. President). It is not a souvenir, stamped ball. The individual players signed the gorgeous bright-white ball in person.
It has been signed by 28 members of the 1963 Kansas City Athletics, who were owner Charlie Finley's fun playtoy.
The ball is beautiful - very clean and in pristine condition. It is gorgeous no matter the age, let alone a middle-aged one at 46 years young.
The Kansas City A's of 1963 were a colorful team, in more ways than just Charles O. Finley's newfangled colorful jerseys. The club featured a young Tony LaRussa, coach Jimmie Dykes, manager Eddie Lopat, Rose Bowl and 1959 World Series hero Chuck Essegian, famed hitting coach Charlie Lau, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, and many more:
George Alusik
Tom Sturdivant
Jose Tartabull
Tony La Russa
Sam Esposito
Charley Lau
John Wyatt
Norm Siebern
Jerry Lumpe
Gino Cimoli
Chuck Essegian (I have Chuck's game-worn Kelly Green and Gold home uniform from this inaugural "colorful-uniform" season (not included in this auction).
