Lee was an outfielder who had his best major league season with the San Diego Padres. The brother of Leon Lee and the uncle of Derrek Lee, Leron Lee played eleven seasons in Japan with the Lotte Orions and hit 283 home runs during his Japanese career.
All-Star Jerry Reuss was a longtime pitcher and broadcaster for several major league teams. He pitched for 22 years in the big leagues. The Redbirds traded him away just like they did Steve Carlton, so they were not that prescient when it came to their young lefthanders.
