VIDA BLUE and GENE TENACE are featured on this 1970 ATHLETICS ROOKIE STARS TOPPS baseball card.
Both signatures were obtained in blue ballpoint pen in late 1970.
Catcher Fury Gene Tenace was born Fiore Gino Tennaci in Pennsylvania. His World Series exploits with the Oakland A's are his main claim to fame. He put in some good years with other clubs, including the San Diego Padres.
Pitcher Vida Blue was a pitching meteor during the 1970's. His career was on a Hall of Fame path, but something prevented that from continuing. He did pitch for 17 years, until age 36, and did win 209 big league games, so he did have a great career.
There is a crease down the middle of the card.
