Harold "Hal" Schumacher was a pitcher for the New York Giants in the 1930's and 1940's.

This auction is for one of the two autographed baseball cards that I have featuring Prince Hal Schumacher.

This auction is only for the card showing him pitching - with the orange background.  Please check out my other items for the "portrait" card, number 240, also autographed by the darling of the Polo Grounds back in the day.  Both are Renata Galasso reprints.  The signatures are in black felt-tip pen.

Hal Schumacher of the New York Giants won twenty games once in his career and was an All-Star twice.

Perhaps his greatest career highlights were two World Series starts. In Game Two of the 1933 Series, he tossed a five-hitter in a victory over the Washington Senators. In 1936, he won Game Five against the New York Yankees. Possibly the most famous moment of his career, and his personal greatest thrill, is where he retired three Hall of Famers in a row (Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, and Bill Dickey) with the bases loaded and went on to a ten-inning victory.

Schumacher was widely considered one of the better-hitting pitchers of his day, with 15 homers in his career.

Schumacher enlisted in the Naval Reserves in December 1942 and was discharged in November 1945. He pitched for the Giants in 1946, then called it a career.

He was also widely known as a class gentleman.
