WALTER "SMOKY" ALSTON of the Brooklyn Dodgers and Los Angeles Dodgers is in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was not elected for that one at bat with the 1937 St. Louis Cardinals (he fanned). He managed about 23 years for the Dodgers, leading them to several pennants and a few World Series titles. He was the manager when the 1955 Brookln Dodgers copped their only World Series crown.
He also won the 1965 World Series (the year this card was issued) against the Minnesota Twins. His signature is in blue ballpoint pen on card number 154 in the 1963 Topps set. I obtained this autograph well over 40 years ago.
Check out my other items including a signed 1965 Walter Alston Topps card, number 217 in that year's set.
These are two autographed baseball cards which both were issued in years in which the Alston-led Los Angeles Dodgers won the National League Pennant and World Series.
