About Blue
Pottery |

Pottery Making |
Process of making Blue Pottery starts with
making of basic paste called Pottery which is made by mixing few
components.
* Green Grass * Fuller's earth * Quartz Stone * Katira (Banyan Tree
Gum). The tiny particles are then ground with a traditional grinder
called a “chakki.” The powdered ingredients are weighted and fixed in
proportions. Next, the dough is prepared from the powdered ingredients.
Then the dough is shaped. These are then made flat and then set into
moulds of desired shape. Once it is taken out of the mould, paste is
applied on it. |

Designing And Painting |
After making the desired object, it is
painted with hand for the various flower patterns and designs or animal
figures or as may be required on the article. The colours used for the
purpose are made of mix of stone colors + Babool Gum.

|
Glazing |
After
process of painting is finished, it is applied with the Glaze
which adds to the luster and shinning of the product. The Glaze used for
the purpose is made of mixing of different specific materials.
|
|
Firing |
The
Next and Final step is of firing. The all ready material is put into the
Kiln. The Kiln is fired at the temperature of 800 to 850 degree
Celsius for six hours in closed Kiln. This is then allowed to cool for 3
days to avoid any rapid change in temperature. The finished
products are then taken out and cleaned.
