This listing is for a unique piece of furniture that will add beauty and class to anyone's home for many years to come. As the ads say "An Instant Classic Heirloom". Please check the photographs carefully, the 2nd photo shows the artist's signature.
This is a 19 3/4" high with a 18 7/8" in diameter round top hand carved pedestal style accent table that has been signed by the artist. Unfortunately the name of the artist was lost when the original purchase order was destroyed in a fire.
I do not read Oriental style writing, but I am in the process of researching the name.
This table is in pristine condition and was obviousy lovingly carved by a very talented artist. The pedestal has dragon head footings with the mouths forming the extended stabilizer footings which are then topped by a decorative band filled with animals both real and mythical. Standing on the top of this decorative band is a trio of decorated elephants who are supporting topless priestesses(?) interspersed with a bird, a snake, and a small chinese style dragon. The women seem to be holding a torvhed shape item in one hand and a cluster of grapes(?) in the other. All this is topped off by a gradual transition from headdresses and organic products to a base for the table top.
The table top has a carved surface protected by glass. The carving on the table to is of a prosperous oriental couple with a single horse pulling a canopied wagon followed by servants and surrounded by the symbols of successful and fruitful farmers.
