This is a full set of the Encyclopedia Brittanica. This set was published in 1958, and was printed in the USA. It is fully illustrated throughout with photographs, diagrams, etc. The pages of these books remain white and clean. I have obviously not inspected every page or volume, but they seem to be in uniformly good well-cared for condition. They have been used, and referred to frequently; I know the original owner, a very studious self-taught man who has spent a lifetime reading and researching items of interest to him. This set was used by him, but never abused, and kept clean and dry. They are bound in the traditional Brittanica oxblood colored leather with full gilt embossed lettering. The gilt remains bright with a little wear. The bindings are good and firm, and all seem straight and square. There is some rubbing at the spine ends from use, as shown. The atlas is not shown in these pictures but is also included. It is larger than these books and has more wear.
THESE ARE HEAVY. Shipping cost reflects that. They will have to be shipped in at least 2 or 3 boxes. Each book weighs about five pounds, the atlas more. I estimate this set will cost about 65 dollars in the continental U.S., but the shipping calculator ebay uses wont let me enter a weight greater than 75 pounds, so the actual cost wont show up in the listing. If you want to pick them up, that would be fine.
