The republic aviation F-84 "Thunderjet" was a turbojet fighter bomber aircraft. Originating as a USAF Proposal for a daytime fighter 1944. The F-84 first flew in 1946 and it entered service in 1947. When production of the F-84 was closed in 1953,about 4467 had been built,including six different versions.

The first effective and fully capable "Thunderjet" was the F-84E Model which entered service in 1949. But, the F-84E was withdrawn from USAF Service in 1956, lingering with Air National Guard Units until 1959.
