1 OF A KIND REPURPOSED GOLF CLUB ART

" SIDE TABLE WITH GLASS "

This is a beautiful handcrafted sculpture by well known artist Jeff Diamond. This very unique piece uses repurposed golf clubs and golf balls to form a small side table with glass top. Clubs that have been cut down are all intertwined and welded together to make the base of this table. On top sits an 18" circular piece of glass. Please note: As shown, as part of it's abstract nature, the table leans forward a bit. It is signed by the artist, and ideal for placement in any home. About Jeff Diamond
(from ontourgolfwear.com & scotsman.com)

Jeff Diamond is a late emerging artist from Florida. He left college with a degree in psychology only to be drawn to an entrepreneurial life. His love of working in a shop with his hands has produced a plethora of unique items over the years. From mailboxes as scale models of peoples homes, to lamps that repurposed law books, he's always created out of the box. For 30 years he has enjoyed the care free environs of Florida to create his current sculptures from used golf clubs. Since 2001 he has been perfecting the use of these golf clubs destined to be trash. From spheres to functionality, he gets deeper into the never ending uses of these clubs. His current use of the powder coating process has opened up a world of color to his art, and has been received quite well. Many years of work are to be expected from this emerging artist.

About ten years ago Diamond, who was making lampstands from old law books at the time, had a brainwave. On a trip to Mexico City, he saw a sphere made of metal stars welded together and thought: "I can do that …with golf clubs." The results are on show in Henderson's, in the gallery space attached to the celebrated vegetarian restaurant: decorative shields with crossed clubs, hanging globes, umbrella stands and table lamps, all made from recycled clubs, mostly their heads. They would look perfect adorning any golf club or Scots-baronial home.

Diamond's works may never make it to the Tate, though his works are probably more original than Damien Hirst's spot or spin paintings. They are part of a somewhat eccentric collection of work exhibited by Colin Fleming at the Collectible Art Gallery. Fleming, a Scot who moved to the US in 1985, says his art collection includes about 3,000 pieces.

Diamond is no art school graduate. "Of course I have my degree in psychology," he says. "It's a little factory of art work, and I walk the line between manufacturing and art. I qualify as an emerging artist, and as a manufacturer."
