Antique German Faience Beer Stein - Gmunden c.1800

Description: Presented is a very old German beer stein made in the beginning of 19th century - around 1800 - 1810. The stein was made in the factory of Gmunden - now its a small town in north Austria that was once famous for faience production. The stein is made of slightly reddish clay with tin-based white glaze. It is decorated with a subtle light blue decoration that consists of top and bottom bands and small floral touch-ups over the body. The decoration is one of several typical Gmunden decors. Very nice and delicate, it creates an elegant look. There is a hairline on front (it did not show on my photograph) and two lines on the handle. No repairs. Some very small clay chips on the bottom. The lid is totally intact - no damage at all and it is original to the stein. It is 7.5" tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.7 L capacity
