Etched Colorful Beer Stein by S.P.Gerz Gnomes c.1890 Description: This absolutely fantastic antique German beer was manufactured by S.P.Gerz. The stein is manufactured in "etched" technique - the same technique that made Mettlach so famous. But in this case the contours are "etched" into the clay but the colors seem to be hand-painted as opposed to differently colored clay used by Mettlach . The decorations show very funny gnome chasracters engaged in festive drinking. The lid is pewer with etched ceramic inlay. The stein is in excellent flawless condition. Etched steins by S.P.Gerz are quite rare - he made just a few. Beautiful and important example beer stein technique and design! 7" to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
