German Glass Beer Stein Engraved Horse Thumblift c1820s Description: Beautiful German Bohemian glass beer stein with pewter lid. Hand-blown with applied handle and pontile mark. Manufactured in 1820s. Decorated with wheel-cut floral decorations - very nicely and skillfully done. Inscripted on front is "Dent an mich" - my German is not good enough to figure it out. The lid is pewter with a horse figure for the thumblift and 5-ring closed-type hinge. The lid itself is fantastically ornate with extremely detailed relief decorations. The bottom has a nicely crafted pewter footring. The stein is in pristine flawless condition - not a single flaw. It is 8" tall to the top of the thumblift, about 1L capacity.
