Presented is a beautiful and important Jugendstil beer stein. It is actually a pouring stein or pitcher - large and impressive. Deisgned by Paul Wynand - on of the most famous Jugendstil ceramics designers in Germany. Manufactured by Reinhold Merkelbach - most of the known Jugendstil beer steins are associated with R.Merkelbach factory. He was the first one to jump on the new style wagon by employing the most prominent artists and designers of the time. Stoneware with "Koelnisch braun" glaze - the signature Merkelbach technique. Original pewter lid designed exclusively for this stein. Excellent flawless condition. 10" tall to the top of the thumblift, 1.5L capacity.
