Munich Child Character Beer Stein by Ernst Bohne Soehne c.1900 Description: Presented is a very interesting antique German beer stein made in the shape of Munich Child or Muenchener Kindl - the symbol of the city of Munich for over 600 years. The stein was made around 1890 - 1900 by Ernst Bohne Soehne - one of the best character stein manufacturers in Germany. The character steins made by Bohne are highly collectable because of excellent quality of porcelain and artistic painting - the Child's face is so very lively. The stein made of porcelain with pewter mountings and the Child's head made as a porcelain inlay for the lid. There was a modern version of this stein produced by Domex. It quite similar but easily recognizable as new ware. The stein is in excellent condition. The stein was produced in 3 sizes - 0.5L, 0.3L and 0.125L. This one is 0.3L capacity. It is 6" tall.
