Old Saltglazed Stoneware Beer Stein Whites Utica? Description: This stein is made of stoneware and it is very similar to the stein produced by Whites company of Utica in the 1890s. The lid is different, though, and there is some markings that I could not identify. The marks shows "B&..." (the rest is not visible) as well as "No.2" I still think this stein was manufactured in the United States somewhere between 1880 and 1900. There is no capacity mark which is common in German steins of this period and the body, as I mentioned is very similar to Whites of Utica stoneware. Pottery in excellent condition, there is a tear on the lid where the hinge connects that was repaired. 6" tall to the top of the thumblift, approx. 0.3L capacity.
