Very Large Mettlach V&B Beer Stein by M.Hein #2220 c.1900 Description: Very Large antique german beer stein manufactured by Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach. Made relief technique very unique to Mettlach. It's a complex technique that involves differently colored clay applications. It was designed by M.Hein - a mysterious Mettlach designer of whom we know very little. His signature: "H.M." is made in relief on the side of the stein - see pics. This is a very large and impressive beer drinkon vessel - it stays 17: to the top of the thumblift and holds 3.8 liters of brew! It is marked with impressed Mettlach mark and date "00" for 1900.
