KONA I/O Options
KONA LS's analog interfaces are among the best in the industry. Using superb quality 12 bit video A/D and D/A converters, analog formats like BetaCam SP have never looked better. KONA LS supports 8 and 10 bit uncompressed video, DV25 and DV50 using the DVCPRO codec, and JPEG, all on an Apple Power Mac G5. In addition to the highest quality in video, KONA LS supports balanced analog, AES/EBU, and embedded audio I/O, all at 24 bits and 48Khz. For simplified system integration, KONA LS also includes hardware sample-rate conversion for AES inputs (eliminating annoying synchronization hassles)-and RS-422 machine control.
KONA LS Desktop
Most Mac-based systems these days run multiple applications to create their video projects. So in addition to Final Cut Pro support, the KONA LS Desktop feature allows broadcast design elements to be viewed in a proper aspect ratio and color depth on a broadcast monitor via the KONA LS card. KONA Desktop supports Apple Motion, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Apple Shake, and Discreet Combustion.

Minimum KONA LS System: Macintosh G5 dual 2GHz processors (PCI-X bus is required), with 1 GB RAM, and one or more internal SATA drives. Some early dual 1.8 GHz G5s had PCI-X busses; these will also work with KONA 2. Note: this minimum system will work with compressed DVCPRO 25, 50, and HD only. Working with uncompressed requires the recommended system shown below.
Recommended KONA LS System: Macintosh G5 dual 2.5 GHz processors, with 1 GB RAM, and a Fibre Channel or SCSI external RAID for uncompressed SD/HD storage.
