21100 LISLE Valve Hand Lapping tool
This tool features a thick, hardwood handle for easy lapping. It has 1 1/8" and 1 3/8" cups for medium and larger size valves found in automotive, light truck, farm and industrial engine applications.
Unique locking tabs positively secure cups to sturdy, hardwood handles. Eliminates slippage. This tool is used with lapping compound (sold separately) to lap the valves so they match the valve seats. Commonly used when doing cylinder head work or overhauling lawn mower engines (see our smaller cup version part no. 21200 in another listing).
Lapping of valves helps insure complete sealing of valve with valve seat. Many high performance shops hand-lap valves after grinding valves and seats.
