Being offer for sale is this exceptional American Empire Flamed Mahogany Dressing Table Vanity with Key circa 1840.This classic American Empire vanity is just gorgeous and has been professionally french polished and features the original sandwich glass pulls, early hand-cut dove-tail ends on the drawers and has working locks with the key and the original casters intact on all four feet.
This dressing table measures 70 inches in height from the floor to the top of the finals on the side mirror supports,38 inches in height from the floor to the top of the sides, and 33 3/4 inches to the center portion, with a width of 42 3/4 inches and depth of 20 inches and this piece weighs approximately 100 lbs. The adjustable mirror measures 25 1/2 inches in height by 15 inches wide (actual mirror portion).
This fine mid 19th century piece is executed in rich flamed mahogany and offers a dressing mirror encased with an ogee frame of beautiful flamed mahogany flanked by full column mirror supports with turned finials at the top. The mirror does pivot front to back to adjust the viewing height. The gorgeous base offers a beautiful dressing table top with two smaller drawers over two larger ones. This piece is raised up on stunning carved trestle type legs with a fine carved stretcher at the center and the original casters intact on all four feet. We believe the mirror to be antique replacement and does show some very minor silver loss and spotting as age appropriate.
This Empire Dressing table / vanity would be a wonderful addition to a bedroom or bath to be admired and enjoyed for many more years to come.
