Being presented for sale is this outstanding American Empire Mahogany & Crotch Mahogany Vitrine / China Display Cabinet with Inlay and Paw Feet circa 1840. We believe this fine period piece to have its original finish and does have a working key. This piece measures 48 inches to the top of the back-splash, height to the front is 39 inches, with a width of 47 inches and depth of 17 inches and this pieces weighs approximately 125 lbs. The shaped crotch mahogany back-splash has lovely string inlay at the top which follows the shape of the arched back with a splendid oval inlay accenting the center. A solid mahogany top is above the two storage drawers each with blocked design inlay that accent the drawer fronts, with early hand-cut dove-tailed drawer ends, with they key that works the locks. Below are paned glass doors that open to reveal a lovely display area inside with a shelf. The lock is intact on the doors but the key only works the locks on the drawers and not the doors. The doors are flanked with raised flat columns of crotch mahogany with carved paw feet at the front. A fantastic find for lovers of Empire pieces and a striking cabinet to display those cherished collectibles or for displaying a beautiful set of china in your dining room.
