Being presented for sale is this Exquisite Philadelphia Empire Crotch Mahogany Sofa with Carved Paw Feet and New Fabric circa 1830's. This is a positively stunning sofa even prettier than the pictures show. This sofa has been professionally recovered in a beautiful cranberry damask fabric with matching french gimp and decorative nail head trim. The springs has been professionally re-tied so there are no issues there....absolutely ready to be placed in your home .

This sofa features gorgeous crotch mahogany on the long flat crest-rail that rises above the covered back,with high roll arms, matching covered roll pillows, with each arm having stunning crotch mahogany armrests, acanthus carved arm supports with oval bulls-eye carvings that flank the long flat seat-rail with four carved paw feet with ornate carved returns, with its original mahogany tapered center leg.

This sofa measures 33 3/4 inches in height to the top of the back rail,a total length from foot to foot of 86 inches, seat width of 63 inches, seat depth of 18 inches and seat height of 17 inches and this sofa weighs approximately 135 lbs. 

  This sofa is very solid and very tight and definitely has a commanding presence. There is an old repair to the back right leg which I have shown a close up of in the pictures...there is no movement at all and its very, very solid and tight.There is a tiny chip in the veneer of the seat rail by the left bulls-eye about the size of a dime.If you are a lover of the American Empire period of furniture don't miss the opportunity to own this high quality Philadelphia Empire sofa that has a powerful, gorgeous presence.
