~Fabulous American Empire w Gothic Influence Crotch Mahogany Post Bed Circa 1850~

     Being presented for sale is this Fabulous American Empire Gothic Influence Mahogany & Crotch Mahogany Post Bed circa 1850. This early bed has a"swing" head-board or sometimes referred to as a summer / winter bed,for the head-board could be easily lifted out to allow the cool breeze to flow in from the windows and then would be placed back for the colder winter months.

     This lovely 19th century bed measures a total height at the head-board posts of 67 1/2 inches, height to the center of the head-board measures 78 inches,height of the foot-board posts measures 42 1/2 inches,height to the blanket roll at the foot-board measures 29 inches,the height to the top portion of the side rails measure 17 inches.The outside measurements of the bed are 63 1/2 inches wide by 81 1/2 inches long and the inside mattress area measures 58 1/2 inches wide by 74 1/2 inches long and should accommodate a full size mattress set nicely but one should always measure their mattress set to assure proper fit. The total weight of this bed is approximately 110 lbs.
